the Qur\u2019an.\u00a0\u00a0Our aim is to make the Qur\u2019an \u2018accessible\u2019 to ordinary people so that they may directly engage with and benefit from the guidance of the Qur\u2019an.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Who is your target audience?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We do not have any specific target audience as we try to reach out the message of the Qur\u2019an to all people.\u00a0\u00a0Hence we have people of all ages and backgrounds including children, university students, professionals, unemployed and pensioners joining us.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Are you just another organisation out there to divide the\u00a0Ummah?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">No, never!\u00a0\u00a0We are trying in our own humble way to contribute to the unity of the Ummah (Muslim Nation).\u00a0\u00a0Allah Ta\u2019ala says:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cHold fast unto the Rope of Alllah and do not be divided\u201d (3:103).\u00a0\u00a0Imam Tabari &amp; Imam Ibn Kathir have both quoted aHadith whereby the Prophet (SAW) explained that \u201cThe Book of Allah is the Rope of Allah extended from the heavens to the earth\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0Imam Malik said that nothing will rectify the latter part of the Ummah other than what rectified the former part of the Ummah.\u00a0\u00a0So by reminding people to go back to the Qur\u2019an, we are helping them to be unified.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Why can\u2019t you work with other existing organisations instead of setting up a new group?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are devoted purely to the study of the Qur\u2019an and making its message accessible to others.\u00a0\u00a0We would love to work with others and in fact we have worked in collaboration with other institutions such as IIDR, British Academy of Qur\u2019anicStudies (BAQS), European Academy of Islamic Sciences, Utrujj, Ebrahim College, Muslimaat, Majid al-Ansar and Eman Foundation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since we were not able to find any organisation or institution locally that was focused primarily at reaching out the message of the Qur\u2019an to the masses, we were forced to create this forum only to facilitate this objective.\u00a0\u00a0We call ourselves as a Quran Study Group for identification purposes only and not for anything else.\u00a0\u00a0We will be prepared to dismantle our set up if any other individual or organisation is prepared to take up the activities that we are undertaking.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Would you be prepared to work with other individuals and organisations wanting to work collaboratively with you with any activities?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Definitely!\u00a0\u00a0The Qur\u2019an says:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cCo-operate with one another in acts of righteousness and piety\u201d (5:2).\u00a0\u00a0Hence our passion is to work with as many diverse individuals and organisations as possible to demonstrate our care for the unity of theUmmah.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is the background of the students who attend your courses?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We have students from a wide range of backgrounds attending our courses such as students, housewives, doctors, lawyers, dentists, engineers, accountants, IT managers and builders.\u00a0\u00a0They come from different ethnic groups and all age ranges from toddlers to pensioners.\u00a0\u00a0This is a good opportunity for networking and extending one\u2019s circle of friends.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Can sisters join in your programmes?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yes.\u00a0\u00a0We actively encourage sisters to attend our programmes and also to bring their family members.\u00a0\u00a0We have several families attending our regular courses.\u00a0\u00a0We usually have an equal number of brothers and sisters attending our courses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Are all the students joining your courses from\u00a0London?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The students in our courses not only come from all parts of London but also from other cities such as Leeds, Birmingham and Reading.\u00a0\u00a0They usually come to London for short courses and stay with family and friends.\u00a0\u00a0We do, however, have some regular students who come from outside London such as a sister who has been coming from Northampton.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If I live outside\u00a0London\u00a0or the\u00a0UK\u00a0can I still associate myself and benefit from the activities of the Qur\u2019an Study Group?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Definitely!\u00a0\u00a0You can still work with us remotely and provide us with your ideas and suggestions.\u00a0\u00a0You can benefit from accessing all the resources from our website.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Would you do any courses outside\u00a0London?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yes, we would love to.\u00a0\u00a0We just need some local brothers and sisters to make the arrangements and we will be happy to the good will of our members.\u00a0\u00a0Everyone does everything voluntarily for the pleasure of Allah.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Who is your Imam that guides you in your day to day affairs?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Qur\u2019an is our Imam as the Prophet (SAW) said that whoever makes the Qur\u2019an his Imam, it will take him to Paradise.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Do you have scholars and knowledgeable people backing up what you do?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is important for us is that Allah Ta\u2019ala is happy and content with what we are doing, rather than anyone else.\u00a0\u00a0We are only trying to understand and promote His Book and nothing else.\u00a0\u00a0Nevertheless we are supported by numerous scholars and sympathisers.\u00a0\u00a0You will find the biographical details of some of the scholars and speakers who have delivered various Qur\u2019an courses to us.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I notice that Hafiz Abdullah Muhammad features prominently in all the Qur\u2019an courses on your website.\u00a0\u00a0Why is that the case?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hafiz Abdullah Muhammad is very passionate about reaching out the message of the Qur\u2019an to the masses and to get them to study it for themselves.\u00a0\u00a0It has been an eye-opener for many of us and hence we were inspired to set up the Qur\u2019an Study Group to benefit others.\u00a0\u00a0You or anyone else can also be prominent in our website if you forward any materials on the Qur\u2019an that you have prepared or deliver Qur\u2019an courses for us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Why do you not do all your programmes in the Mosque?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We would love to hold our Qur\u2019an classes in the Mosque due to the special virtues of studying the Book of Allah in the House of Allah.\u00a0\u00a0However, some mosques are reluctant to entertain such programmes for fear of being taken over or because we are perceived as not belonging to their school of thought or there are no facilities to accommodate women.\u00a0\u00a0However, wherever possible, we are trying to do Qur\u2019an programmes in the mosque such as Masjid Al-Ansar and EmanFoundation.\u00a0\u00a0We encourage all Imams in mosques to hold regular programmes on the Qur\u2019an in English.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Do you charge money to attend your courses?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We want to make the Qur\u2019an as \u2018accessible\u2019 as possible so that we don\u2019t put unnecessary barriers to people studying the Qur\u2019an.\u00a0\u00a0On that basis, we do not charge people to attend our regular weekly classes on the Qur\u2019an and some other programmes in mosques.\u00a0\u00a0However, sometimes we work with other institutions where they levy a charge for formal courses to meet the costs of advertising, materials, venue etc.\u00a0\u00a0In such cases, we encourage institutions to minimise the costs as much as possible to make it affordable.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What courses have you done so far?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We have done numerous courses on the Qur\u2019an to date.\u00a0\u00a0Some of these are listed under the Courses section of this website.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What other courses are you planning to do in the future?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the New Year, we are planning to have a two-day course on \u2018Believers in the Qur\u2019an\u2019 to be presented by 5 speakers at Masjid al-Ansar, Insha Allah.\u00a0\u00a0We also intend to hold a 3-month course on \u2018Thematic Study of the Qur\u2019an\u2019, Course on Juz\u2018Amma (Part 30), Qur\u2019anic Arabic, basic Tajweed, and systematic study of prominent surahs of the Qur\u2019an.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Do you intend to do other activities?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yes.\u00a0\u00a0Since we have a diverse group, we are hoping to do other activities to cater for the needs of our participants and to strengthen the Islamic brotherhood\/sisterhood.\u00a0\u00a0We do regular fund-raising for charities and we have plans to set upDa\u2019wah stalls, children\u2019s classes, visits to historical mosques, telephone advice line easy-to-understand translation of the Qur\u2019an with Arabic text from the USA (by Faruq Malik) and we are encouraging everyone to take copies.\u00a0\u00a0We also give out other resources such as MP3 CDs consisting of recitation and translation of the Qur\u2019an, Amina Elahi\u2019s lectures on the Qur\u2019an, double DVD Tafsir of Surah al-Kahf, Way to the Qur\u2019an booklet and other Da\u2019wah resources.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What are the benefits of joining or associating\u00a0myself\u00a0with the Qur\u2019an Study Group?<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It\u2019s a great opportunity to mingle with other like minded people and commit oneself to the study of the Qur\u2019an and putting it into practice.<\/span><\/p><h2><span you associate yourself with the activities of the Qur\u2019an Study Group, you don\u2019t give allegiance to anything.\u00a0\u00a0You simply make the Qur\u2019an prominent in your life.\u00a0\u00a0We do not ask anyone to terminate their membership of any Islamic organisation but rather ask them to work with their group with more passion and motivate their colleagues to study the
